"You Ain't Going Nowhere" is a Bob Dylan classic, written in 1967 during his recovery from his motorcycle accident. The song was recorded during the famous "Basement Tapes" sessions with The Band in Woodstock. History: First commercial release: The Byrds in 1968 on "Sweetheart of the Rodeo" (before Dylan himself!) Dylan's official version released in 1971 on "Greatest Hits Vol. II" Fun fact: Roger McGuinn of The Byrds accidentally swapped the lyrics "Pick up your money, pack up your tent" to "Pack up your money, pick up your tent". Dylan playfully called him out by changing the lyrics to "Pack up your money, pick up your tent, McGuinn" on his 1971 version.
